Everything for DIY computer builders - memory, disk drives, video cards, power supplies, cases etc. Changing a disk drive, for example, is not recommended unless you have a reasonable understanding of how cables plug in to one another and are handy with a screwdriver.

The death of the hard drive was quoted years ago and they're still here - larger, faster and cheaper than ever! A 10MB hard drive back in 1980 was the size of a washing machine and cost about $20,000 - now you pay one hundredth of the price and get many thousand times more capacity.

Top Computer Memory

Top Computer Memory

Solid state memory used internally is the fastest form of storage in a PC. It's also volatile (unlike USB flash memory which is slower) which means when the power is cut all that was in memory is lost (yet another reason to save your work on a regular basis). When you place your computer into standby mode power is still supplied to the memory to keep it alive. Hibernate mode will copy the contents of the memory to the HDD and back from the HDD when you wake up the computer.
Looking to upgrade your notebook memory? SODIMM memory is smaller 'laptop sized' memory.

Top Computer Screens

Top Computer Screens

Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) thin screens are taking over from Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) old-style screens because they take up less room, use less power and even look much better! Some of the best monitors are still CRT but the market share is shrinking every day as LCD technology keeps improving.

Top Optical Drives

Top Optical Drives

Drives that use lasers to store data in the form of microscopic dots on an optical disk. CD/DVD/Blu-ray are all optical storage devices and convert laser pulses to digital data by "burning" the disk. The laser reads the disk by decoding the light bounced back to the pickup which is in pulses that convert to binary data.
