We've used the Epson V700 Scanner on our review of the new Xerox SLED printers. We scanned the output from various printers to reveal detail that's hard to see normally.

If you're after a flatbed scanner that can handle larger format film and scan more 35mm slides in the one pass the Epson V700 is the one.
The V700 uses a very sensitive CCD pickup, this is why the dynamic range is so good. For pre-press uses you'll find the solid construction and speed is equal to or better than scanners that sold for thousands a few years ago.
Another benefit of CCD is "Depth of field" this means you have a better chance of scanning 3D items such as jewelry, coins etc.
