Full HD video recording
Aside from the ability to shoot video in Full HD (1080p), users also have the flexibility of choosing to shoot at 720p or VGA resolution when there is a need for the user to store his additional footage on a memory card. The package also includes an HDMI connection that allows high definition playback on any HDTV.
Auto Lighting Optimizer and Auto Correction of Lens Peripheral Illumination
Unlike other DIGIC 4 Cameras, the 500D offers 3 levels of Auto Lighting Optimizer, which differentiates it from previous models that only utilizes an ON/OFF switch to activate this feature. Also, to correct instances of lens vignetting, it can illuminate the corners of the image to correct it.
High ISO Noise Reduction
The 500D's increased ISO range offer greater control on the amount of noise reduction being applied to JPEG files at higher ISOs.
Live View
Provides maximum ease in shooting images or videos with its 3.0" LCD monitor with a clear anti-reflection coating. Its Live View mode also allows user to activate Live Face Detection AF Mode and Live View movies in full HD.
Digital SLR Camera
Single-Lens Reflex (SLR) camera uses an semi-automatic moving mirror system which permits the photographer to sometimes see exactly what will be captured by the film or digital imaging system.
