There are several methods currently used to indicate the speed of flash memory products. Some brands use megabytes per second (MB/s), while some use a digit followed by “X” (eg: 16x for DVD or up to 300x for some memory cards). To cover all bases some even use both!
However, it can be quite difficult for consumers to gauge what a particular “X” rating actually means, and what rate of data transfer it represents. So to give a clearer picture the following table adopts the standard used to measure CD speeds (1X = 150KB/sec) and applies it to a variety of Verbatim products.

Speed*

Strictly speaking, the performance of Flash memory products should not be measured with the same “X” classifications as CD/DVD products as the technologies are quite different. However, as many customers request this sort of comparison, many companies have informally adopted the CD speed measurement (1X = 150KB/sec) and applied this information to Flash memory products.
**The speeds indicated are achievable in a testing laboratory environment. Actual performance may vary and will depend upon the hardware / software specifications / settings of the device in which the item is used.
